Teaching and Learning Services
Our Teaching and Learning Services Team provides training and technical assistance to include coaching and supporting childcare providers. The TLS Team consists of highly qualified Technical Assistance Specialists who have a strong educational background in Early Childhood Education and Administration. The team provides services that helps childcare providers throughout Forsyth County gain and/or maintain quality childcare, provides assessments of classroom-level processes, trauma-informed practices, evidence-based instructional supports, and developmentally appropriate practices associated with children’s positive developmental outcomes. In addition, TLS provides leadership development for early childhood administrators to improve knowledge and implementation of programmatic and business practices. TLS also provides support for social-emotional development implementing conscious discipline practices.
Quality Improvement & Maintenance
Technical Assistance for Quality Improvement - Technical assistance is provided to facilities operating under a provisional/temporary license or a one-, two-, three-, four- or five- stars rated license.
Re-Licensure for Quality Maintenance - Childcare Centers can seek to increase their star rating during the re-licensure process. Consultation services are also available to centers or family childcare homes and religious-based facilities with a temporary; one-, two-, three-, four-, or five-star rated license. Other individuals and agencies requesting information on starting or expanding an early childhood program are welcomed to this service.
Coaching and Instructional/Behavioral Supports
Making the Most of Classroom Interactions Infant/Toddler (MMCI) - Designed to support teachers providing early education for infants, one and two-year-old children, in three, four, or five-star rated licensed centers.
Social-Emotional/Challenging Behaviors and Inclusion Support - Designed to provide instructional support to teachers providing early education to children three and four years old in a licensed early childhood learning environment.
Leadership Matters Institute - A cohort designed to provide eligible center directors and assistant directors of three, four, and five-star rated child care centers in Forsyth County with a preferred minimum of three years of leadership experience an opportunity to develop and enhance their leadership skills through a cohort.
Professional Development and Training - Designed to provide early childhood education providers (e.g., Private Childcare, Head Start, School System, Pre-K, L.M.I., other community providers) serving families and children ages birth to five years opportunities to receive training on various topics as well as specific issues and services that may be targeted to a particular audience.
Lending Library & Resource Center
With a membership, teachers can check out educational materials for classrooms. Teachers can select from a wide selection of die cuts, books, games, music and learning kits supporting story times and classroom lesson plans.
