The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. General Position Summary:

Assists director with oversight, operation, and maintenance of Safe Environment Program. Conducts and assists with investigations of allegations regarding Code of Conduct violations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To collaborate with program director and work closely and effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and laity to ensure compliance with all requirements of the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People (“Charter”).
  • Conducts investigations regarding Code of Conduct violations and other investigations as assigned by the Chancery and director of the program.
  • Assists director with day-to-day oversight of program operations.
  • Assists in development and implementation of current safe environment curriculum and training for adults, children, and youth.
  • Assists director in preparing and maintaining diocesan safe environment and USCCB Charter compliance documentation and reports.
  • Assists in preparing department’s annual budget and in good stewardship of department’s resources.
  • Represents the Diocese of Fort Worth Office of Safe Environment as a point of contact for internal and external individuals and groups.
  • Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.

Typical Decisions and/or Recommendations Made in This Position:

  • Must be able to read and interpret criminal and civil background check information and make recommendations regarding suitability of employee and volunteer candidates for ministry within the diocese.
  • Must be able to understand and conduct investigations into allegations of code of conduct violations and other investigations as directed by the Chancery or department head.

Supervision Given and/or Received:

  • Supervision provided by Director of Safe Environment
  • Will be responsible for providing supervision for Safe Environment staff and may share in employment decisions with higher level management.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines, and sometimes heavy workloads.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel required, up to 25-50 % of time may be required.
  • Travel primarily within the Diocese of Fort Worth.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required .
  • A Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is preferred .
  • A minimum of three years of office and/or field experience conducting investigations and preparing reports related to criminal, civil, or regulatory misconduct is required.

Note: Applicants who do not meet the educational requirements may substitute additional relevant investigative experience on a year-for-year basis .

FLSA Designation: Exempt, Full-time, M-F, onsite, some nights and weekend work required
