Summary

As an Associate Designer on the Juniors Design Team, you will play a pivotal role in creating innovative, stylish, and on-trend apparel for our customers. You will assist in designing the product category and help ensure that the line is cohesive, complete, and trend-right. To be successful in this role, you must have a keen eye for detail, a passion for apparel design, and a strong understanding of current fashion trends. The ability to support the team in all aspects of the design process is essential. Collaboration with cross-functional partners is key to bringing the brand’s vision to life.

Essential Job Functions

Include but not limited to:

  • Assist Designers in research, design, and execution of the Knit and Sweater product lines. Including: color selection, styling, trends, product mix, price points, fabric, fit, flat sketches, and technical packs.
  • Create color boards, order pantone chips seasonally, and maintain library. 
  • Input color into NedGraphics Design and calibrate printer as needed.
  • Assist with pattern development and coloring of patterns.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining all sample orders for initials, sales samples, and production. Including: technical sketches, accurate specs, fabric, trims, and construction information for all styles.
  • Assist with fittings; communicate with overseas team throughout the Development and Production stages.
  • Track, maintain and clearly communicate line information for all phases of Development and Production with Design, Merchandising and HK teams.
  • Adhere to the design timing calendar: ensure all stages of sampling are completed on time and are market ready. 
  • Assist Designers with trend books and cad packages for sales tools, seasonally.
  • Shop stores quarterly to stay abreast of our target market demographics, lifestyle, fashion trends, and buying habits.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, if needed.
  • Special projects, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years design experience in the apparel industry, preferably in the Juniors market
  • Knit and sweater product development preferred
  • Proficiency required with computer design programs, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.
  • Additional programs preferred: NedGraphics Design, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • Must have strong technical skills relating to fit and construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to Design, Merchandising, Sales staff, and HK teams.
  • Organizational skills: ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position is $64,400 to $73,000 annually, DOE.
