Crystal Dynamics is seeking a Concept Art Director, where your creative vision will shape the visual experience of our next-gen games. As a Concept Art Director, you will be responsible for setting the conceptual artistic direction and driving the quality of all concept work across the game. You’ll work closely with external teams to ensure that the art for the game aligns with the broader creative vision and production needs.

As a Concept Art Director, you will:

  • Define and communicate the artistic vision of the game, ensuring concept art aligns with the overall creative direction, game design and narrative.
  • Work closely with our external co-development partner, guiding artists across different time zones to drive creative alignment and ensure the delivery of high-quality assets.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor the art team, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
  • Work closely with other department leads and directors to ensure a cohesive and seamless game experience.
  • Manage art production schedules, resources, and workflow to meet project milestones.
  • Oversee development of art assets, from concept through to final implementation, maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure art assets are optimized for performance without compromising artistic integrity.
  • Drive innovation by staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Represent the visual aspects of the game in internal reviews and external presentations.

To be considered for this role, we require the following:

  • Proven experience as an Art Director, Principal, or Lead Artist in the video game industry.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a deep understanding of high-fidelity, photorealistic artistic principles and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of game art production pipelines and tools.
  • Ability to articulate and execute a unique and compelling visual style.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating creative teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-development teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to adjust quickly and effectively to shifting project priorities.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Experience in directing art for AAA titles, particularly in the action-adventure genre.
  • Strong drawing skills and passion for visual arts.
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine (ideally, working specifically with Lumen and Nanite).

It'll be a bonus if you also have:

  • Willingness to work with co-development teams in EU time zones.
  • Experience working within an existing IP.
  • Awards or recognition in the field of game art.

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states or regions, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education.

Your recruiter will be able to share more information about total compensation.

Pay Range (United States)

$110,000 - $148,000 USD

Pay Range (Canada)
