The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill a Marine Sports Program Coordinator vacancy within OPRYD.
This position will be responsible for the development, promotion, and implementation of all sailing and boating sports programs. The Marine Sports Program Coordinator oversees marine sports activities for all ages and works with other departmental and city-sponsored programs as well as potential sponsors in the administration of marine sports programs.

Minimum Requirements for Application This recruitment will produce two eligible lists. The restricted list will be for full-time, permanent part-time, or part-time City and Port of Oakland employees who meet the minimum qualifications. The open list will be for all other applicants who meet the minimum qualifications.

Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, leisure studies, physical education, sports science, or a related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience providing direct service in marine related activities and program administration including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity of marine sports activities.
Desirable Qualifications: - Possession of California Boater Card or out-of-state equivalent.
- Catamaran Endorsement and/or US Sailing Bareboat Cruising certification.
- Experience as U.S. Sailing Small Boat Level 1,2,3 Instructor, Small Boat Instructor Trainer, or past Small boat handling experience.
License or Certificate / Other Requirements: Successful incumbents in this job are expected to operate automotive vehicles in the performance of the assigned duties. Due to the nature of the assignment and the hours worked, public transportation may not be a cost effective or efficient method for traveling to the various locations required. Individuals who are appointed to this position will be required to maintain a valid California Driver's License throughout the tenure of employment OR demonstrate the ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as required in the performance of duties.
Possession of certification in basic Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
