We are seeking a consultant to serve as the Director of Marketing for the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Aviation. This is a full-time, on-site consulting opportunity based at PHL. As a consultant through CHPlanning, you will play an integral role within the Airport’s in-house marketing team, helping shape and elevate the brand of the Philadelphia Airport System.

PHL is seeking a forward-thinking and strategic Marketing Director to lead our marketing team and enhance the Philadelphia International Airport brand. The ideal candidate will be tasked with creating and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies aimed at boosting passenger traffic, improving customer engagement, and fostering strong partnerships with airlines and stakeholders. This is a full-time position that requires an on-site presence 5 days a week at the Philadelphia International Airport.

As a strategic leader, the Marketing Director will oversee the airport’s marketing initiatives, mentor a dynamic team, and collaborate with key stakeholders to elevate the visibility of the Philadelphia Airport System as a premier international gateway. Additionally, the Marketing Director will be responsible for developing and executing robust marketing strategies that promote the Philadelphia Airport System's brand, digital footprint, social media initiatives, and related activities. This role

entails guiding a team of marketing professionals, including a Digital Marketing Manager, Social Media Manager, and Marketing Strategists, with an emphasis on mentorship and professional growth. Additionally, the role calls for substantial expertise in managing agency partnerships to ensure the success of marketing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

Team Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team that includes the Digital Marketing Manager, Social Media Manager, and a team of Marketing Strategists.
  • Provide clear directions and foster a collaborative environment that encourages growth, innovation, and accountability.

Strategic Campaign Development:

  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy that aligns with the airport’s goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns and corporate branding initiatives that enhance the visibility and reputation of the Philadelphia Airport System.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders, including airlines, concessionaires, and community organizations, to promote airport amenities and drive revenue.
  • Lead the planning and execution of marketing projects to promote specific programs, services, and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage advertising and promotional budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

Marketing and Branding Excellence:

  • Lead corporate branding initiatives that promote a positive image of PHL and its value proposition.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Brand Creative and Director, Communications to align marketing strategies with the physical environment and customer experience.
  • Ensure a consistent and compelling airport identity across all platforms

B2B Marketing and Agency Partnerships:

  • Bring expertise in B2B marketing, working closely with agency partners to drive impactful campaigns.
  • Cultivate relationships with business partners, including airlines, local businesses, community organizations, and other key partners to enhance collaborative marketing efforts.
  • Develop relationships with airlines, travel agencies

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Use passenger data, market trends, and customer feedback to inform strategic marketing decisions and enhance customer engagement.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to airport executives on programs and services to meet the evolving needs of diverse passenger segments.
  • Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing programs, using metrics to adjust strategies and improve results.

Advertising & Consultant Oversight:

  • Oversee external advertising agencies and marketing consultants, ensuring effective execution of marketing initiatives that align with the airport’s overall branding and marketing goals.
  • Direct vendors in the production of marketing materials and collateral to support ongoing campaigns.
  • Design and oversee customer engagement initiatives to ensure positive passenger experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, including significant leadership experience
  • At least two (2) years of experience leading marketing campaigns with a focus on branding, customer engagement, and the B2B sector
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and developing a marketing team and building strong agency relationships
  • Experience with marketing strategies in both B2B and B2C environments, with measurable results (ROI)
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and software.
  • Strong people management skills, including mentoring and leadership of direct reports
  • Expertise in Digital and Social Media marketing, with experience overseeing social media strategies and campaigns
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality marketing content and materials
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
