Clark County Parks and Nature Division is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to work closely with colleagues in the division to implement short and long term operations and maintenance plans throughout our 96 developed park and open space properties. Clark County Parks and Nature enriches communities by creating and stewarding parks that promote health and wellness, boost economic vitality, preserve natural areas, and ensure access to the outdoors for all. You will be working directly with your fellow Parks and Nature Operations Superintendent on planning and monitoring of daily maintenance operations activities. Additional duties will include monitoring, managing and planning for preventative and major maintenance while collaborating with our Planning and Development Team. Providing leadership and supervision of staff and monitoring of Operations budget performance in collaboration with the Public Works Finance Division. Typical tasks include planning, developing and implementing strategies and programs to accomplish department goals, supervising staff, coordinating department resources, representing the department at various events, evaluating department programs, preparing and administering operating budgets, directing and reviewing program work plans, participating in community outreach, and performing other related duties. Education and experience requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience, plus 2-4 years of direct experience supervising and/or managing road or grounds maintenance operations and personnel. Required licenses include a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Knowledge and skills required include maintenance and repair techniques, management and supervisory principles, cost estimation, blueprint reading, and computer skills. Ability to manage operations and staff, develop effective relationships, operate maintenance equipment, and maintain accurate records is essential. The selection process includes application review, practical exam, oral interview, and employment references. The first review of candidates will be May 19th, and the recruitment may close at any time on or after that date. Duties include planning and organizing program or division organization, guiding policy development, measuring program performance, developing community relations, fiscal management, analyzing and managing programs, defining goals and objectives, preparing reports, and overseeing staff training and evaluation.
