Location: Central & Southern Illinois (Travel Required)

Position Overview:
As an MDS Nurse Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process across our skilled nursing facilities. You will provide expert guidance, training, and oversight to MDS Care Plan Coordinators to ensure regulatory compliance, accurate resident assessments, and improved quality of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide continuous training and education on MDS documentation, coding guidelines, and regulatory changes.
Oversee the full MDS process—from admission assessments to ongoing updates—ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state standards.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to collect and evaluate resident data for MDS completion.
Stay up-to-date with CMS regulations and implement changes effectively across teams.
Conduct audits to monitor and ensure protocol compliance.
Analyze MDS data to identify trends and recommend improvements in resident care.
Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to develop care improvement strategies based on MDS findings.
Participate in care planning meetings and offer expert insights based on MDS data.
Generate comprehensive reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) or (LPN) with a valid Illinois license.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an MDS Coordinator or experience as an MDS Consultant in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
Strong knowledge of current CMS guidelines and long-term care regulations.
Excellent communication and teaching skills.
Must be willing to travel across Central and Southern Illinois.
