Transportation Manager
Location: Ashland, Virginia
Hours: Monday - Friday, day shift
Salary: $105,000-$115,000 + 12% annual bonus and excellent benefits
Summary:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of outbound freight operations for 6 states, ensuring service levels are met efficiently while minimizing costs. This role includes leading the Transportation Department, ensuring team safety and DOT compliance, and implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
We are looking for a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of Manager who has strong attention to detail, will hold themselves and their team accountable and has a passion for transportation!
What you will be doing:
· Team & Safety Leadership: Ensure a safe work environment; train and supervise team members in safety procedures.
· Operational Management: Oversee multi-state transportation operations for efficient delivery, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
· Strategic Implementation: Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed departmental and corporate objectives.
· Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with Distribution, Logistics, and Sales teams to optimize operational efficiencies.
· Staff Development: Recruit, train, and manage personnel; provide regular performance feedback and professional development opportunities.
· Route Optimization: Evaluate routing software and route efficacy, making improvements to support organizational goals.
What you bring:
· Education & Experience: BS/BA degree or equivalent; minimum of 5 years in transportation management.
· Technical Proficiency: Proficient with office equipment and routing software (RoadNet, Geotab, Lytx); strong computer skills.
· Leadership & Communication: Strong communication skills, with proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
· Licensing: Valid Driver’s License (CDL A preferred).
· Safety & Compliance Focus: Knowledge of DOT compliance; commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
