Our esteemed client is a well-established, highly successful engineering consulting firm based in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area and has retained our services to identify an experienced Biologist who will conduct field work with biological monitoring focus on habitat, plants and wildlife species and complete analysis and reporting.

With over 20 years of successful years in business, this company provides civil engineering, environmental, and water resources engineering services along with construction management throughout California. This position will support a broad range of fieldwork, environmental planning, and natural resource management projects throughout the greater Bay Area. Our client specializes in restoration and mitigation for public agencies, with a focus on thoughtful, science-based solutions.

What you will do:

▪️Conduct biological monitoring, plant and wildlife - including nesting bird, bat roost, rare and invasive plant survey

▪️Perform botanical and habitat assessments; implement and support monitoring plans

▪️Identify native and non-native Bay Area flora and fauna, including special status species.

▪️Support and occasionally lead field surveys, restoration efforts, and environmental training for crews.

▪️Collect, analyze, and manage field data; ensure accuracy through QA/QC protocols.

▪️Draft technical memoranda and contribute to environmental documents, reports, and permit applications.

▪️Research and interpret regulatory requirements; assist in preparing compliance documentation.

▪️Oversee subcontractors on small projects and assist in project tracking, budgeting, and scheduling.

▪️Provide technical expertise in habitat restoration, impact assessment, mitigation, and success criteria development.

▪️Support project leads and occasionally manage tasks or new initiatives depending on experience level.

▪️Lead new projects as needed. Track budget and staff in concert with supervisors.

▪️Provides technical and biological expertise on a wide array of projects; research permits, agreements, and other regulatory documents; provides assessments of potential effects of new regulatory obligations in compliance with state and federal regulations.

▪️Lead field surveys and crews of biologists as needed.

▪️Ability to analyze and evaluate complex biological data and technical reports in order to make recommendations based on results and findings.

▪️Assist in drafting contract amendments and other administrative paperwork rel ated to projects.

Who you are:

▪️Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in biology, botany, wildlife biology, or a related field.

▪️A minimum of 3+ years of experience and knowledge of principles and practices of environmental planning, habitat restoration, natural resources management, conservation planning, methods and techniques of biological resource assessments, mitigation, monitoring, development and tracking of

success criteria, and reporting.

▪️Ability to analyze and evaluate basic biological data and reports in order to make recommenda

tions based on results and findings.

▪️Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of contributing to deliverables and client interactions.

▪️Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, ESA, CWA) and permitting processes.

▪️Experience conducting wetland delineations.

▪️Experience as a biological monitor for projects occurring in sensitive habitat, plant or wildlife species. ▪️Experience developing environmental training documents and delivering training to construction crews.

▪️Demonstrated experience with Bay Area special status species. Obtained or working to obtain Scientific Collection and 10(a)1(a) permits to work with specific species. Strong preference for San Francisco Bay Area species such as California red-legged frog, foothill yellow-legged frog, Alameda whip snake, California tiger salamander, San Francisco garter snake, and salt marsh harvest mouse.

▪️Ability to confidently identify and document incipient non-native plant species to a project area.

▪️Knowledge of specific quantitative techniques and protocols to evaluate resource functions and values such as releve’, rapid assessment, and point intercept.

▪️Knowledge of methods and techniques of environmental impact assessment, mitigation, monitoring, development and tracking of success criteria, and reporting.

▪️Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid California . U se of personal vehicle for work will be required.

*** NOTE: This is a full-time hybrid (Remote, field, office) position based out of the Pleasanton office. The cl ient is not o ffering relocation assistance or sponsorship.

Compensation:

The compensation package has base salary range of $68,000 to $107,000 plus a bonus opportunity. Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
